The European Cleft Lip and Palate Foundation de ECLPF is an organisation providing medical aid on an international scale to children with a cleft lip and/or palate. ECLPF’s activities are focused on developing countries lacking the resources to treat these children.
When desirable the members of ECLPF are accompanied by other medical specialists. On location the operations are always performed in close cooperation with local medical specialists. At the same time, the ECLPF members try to get the specialists’ interest in our work and by providing training, to enable them to perform these operations independently. Cooperation with organisations with similar goals is actively pursued, since ECLPF appreciates the value of mutually reinforcing activities, without the competitive element taking precedence. Experience has taught that the deployment of small groups of medical specialists is the most effective way of operating.
An increasing number of medical specialists and staff are willing to spend their time and energy on ECLPF projects, in their own free time and without remuneration. As a matter of fact, all ECLPF members are paying their own airfare and expenses.
The board of the ECLPF is composed of the following members:
The European Cleft Lip and Palate Foundation ECLPF is supported by an international advisory board providing medical advice on surgical interventions.
